The Holy Name second grade classes partner with Open Hands Food Pantry. This local food pantry provides food to those in need in our nearby community.

Our second grade students support Open Hands Food Pantry through their annual field trip to the pantry. The students collect canned goods and nonperishable items to donate to the food pantry at their visit. They also decorate and fill "birthday bags" filled with cake mix, frosting, and items for a birthday celebration to donate to the pantry. The pantry gives these bags to families in need as a way to help the parents more easily provide the basics of a fun-filled birthday celebration for their children that they might not have otherwise been able to offer them. Our students are able to share food and joy with those in need around them. They realize the blessings they have in their homes and families and the joy of lending a helping hand in providing for the needs of others.
